JUST WONDERING

In 1990 President Bush was contemplating a second term after a successful campaign to rid Kuwait of an invader; when out of nowhere(?) the stock market took a deep nose dive, the Democrats declared a financial disaster loomed unless the Republicans were replaced by their visionary, and the rest (next 8 years) was history. Now flash forward to 2008. Now president Bush has completed a rather successful relief of Iraq and that country is sorta on its way to full recovery and what happens?? The stock market takes a nose dive (closely resembling the 1990 dive) the economy is supposedly in a terrible state, and the Democrats are blaming the Republicans for all of the ills.

Does this seem to be a remarkable coincidence? Or are there behind the scene forces manipulating the game?

No conspiracy theory here, just wondering.

Does anyone realize that the President may be a republican, but the congress is lead by the democrats? Who is really making the rules here? Not to mention, the liberal judges who are really ruling this country! :)

My supposition leans towards the idea that the entity that is or may be manipulating the election(s) is/are wealthy businessmen or powerful people with enormous resources who make significant profits from the election of whoever they may be supporting. By being able to sway market forces and the economy they win by getting a most favored position in the government (favors)(?). I find it difficult to believe in coincidence especially this one.
Thank you for your comments. Please keep them coming so that I may evaluate my own thinking and possibly modify my position.

Well, if you look at your own reasoning there, Bill, you would have to look at who has profited from all of this.

George Soros comes to mind. He has made his fortune causing massive currency devaluations. He has also publicly stated that he wants America to suffer some financial pain. Not to mention that he is one of, it not the largest donor on the Dem side. Right off the top of my head he funds at least half a dozen major "progressive" groups including Moveon.org and ACORN.

You could be on to something here.

Although Bush 41 was leading (slightly) in the polls until it was announced that Caspar Weinberger was being indicted in the whole Iran Contra affair. But it is speculation as to whether that really cost Bush 41 the election.
