Irony
It seems strange to me how an organization can be discredited . Recently, a California Highway Patrol manned helicopter found and rescued a man and his three kids from the high Sierra snow while risking their own safety. The news media played up the courage and tenacity of the people who were rescued but failed to give any time to the rescuers. It doesn't seem to be totally fair to me. There are other examples in reality and fiction where the real Heroes remain unknown while the ones who were nothing but victims of circumstances or even their own folly get credit for being the heroes (watch the Clint Eastwood movie Heartbreak Ridge for another example of this).
At the same time, whenever a Cop, or Military member makes an error in judgement or does something that turns out badly, see who is spotlighted for their dastardly deeds (One might want to review the Rodney King story and sequence of events as a strong example of this effect). The news media was well focused on the Iraq conflict until it appeared that the US military began to show progress. Now the war and its original purpose is very much in the background. Enough for now...

I see where you are going but maybe it is just AZ news. In our state here our local media actually paid very little focus on the rescued and mentioned quite a bit about the rescuer....Hmmm. I wonder what the difference is.
